MOTIV SOUNDMINE is designed and equipped to accommodate the full spectrum of sound-related projects, including live sound recordings and MIDI-programmed productions,  jingles, advertisements and voice-overs.  The studio has access to a pool of some excellent session musicians who can create a complete backline recording with brilliant results.

MOTIV SOUNDMINE is the brainchild of Marc Welgemoed, an Eastern Cape-resident.  Marc hails from a very musical family, with both parents as members of “The Matadors”, as well as a brother who played concert guitar.  The studio commenced its operations towards the end of April 2006 and is expanding more and more every day.  The entire studio has been overhauled towards the end of 2009, an operation which has tremendously enhanced the quality of all the recordings emanating from the studio.

MOTIV is specialising in dance- and pop-rock music, but also excels at producing other styles and musical genres.  Both English and Afrikaans music are produced by the studio.  The current pride of MOTIV is Eastern Cape artist, Donovan Vallance, who has landed a record deal with The David Gresham Record Company (Pty) Ltd, based on his brilliant second album, “Rock My Wêreld”, produced and co-written by Marc.  “Donovan is the next future great of South Africa”, says a confident Marc.  “His musical style, ideas and energy is feeding MOTIV more and more every day!”Marc has also, together with Donovan, signed a Worldwide Composer’s Agreement with The David Gresham Record Company (Pty) Ltd.

MOTIV shares the enthusiasm of musical artists and knows how much they desire the best quality before they present their music to the world out there.  For that reason, MOTIV always strives towards creating recordings which will appeal to experts in the music industry and also give the artist something to be proud of.  Apart from just recording an artist’s music, MOTIV also provides general suggestions to artists in order to improve their music.  MOTIV realises how important it is for artists to develop and therefore keeps a constant eye on artists’ recording- and performance careers.  “It is always nice to see how, especially young and newcomer artists, develop into the popstars of tomorrow”, says Marc.

MOTIV is a recording studio which is not only recording, but also mixing and mastering music.  Music, produced by the studio, is radio-quality and quite a few MOTIV-recordings are currently rocking the airwaves.  And the road forward for MOTIV?  “I want my clients to enjoy their music and for that reason, I try to include something new and unique in every production.  There must at least be a part of me in every production;  otherwise I have not done my work adequately”, says Marc with a smile on his face.  “And, oh yes, apart from my clients, the public must also enjoy my clients’ music”.  In this case, take a listen for yourself next time you hear a MOTIV-recording and make your decision...
